Nanni Balestrini

Oltre la poesia

Exhibition
15.11.2014—22.02.2015

By breaking sentences and even words, combining them in apparently arbitrary ways, I want to bring out a deeper, irrational meaning, which generates mental emotions, as music and painting do, not reasoning… - Nanni Balestrini

The works of Nanni Balestrini (Milan, 1935) demonstrate the relevance of the image-text relationship and testify to the transformation of the positions of visual poetry into a current language. The exhibition offers an overview of Balestrini’s work since the 1960s with particular attention to the different media used.

From “Pagine” to various groups of collages from the 1970s and 1980s up to the infinite film “Tristanoil”, presented on the occasion of dOCUMENTA(13) from 2012. The exhibition is in collaboration with the artist and takes inspiration from the materials present in the Museion collection (New Scripture Archive) to extend to the works from his studio.
