Destinazione Alto Adige

Exhibition
Ludwig Thalheimer, Asylum seekers Ashik, Lucman and Nazir from Bangladesh with South Tyrolean farmers during a break from work in the apple orchards in Riva di Sotto near Bolzano, 2016.
16.05.—17.07.2017

Cubo Garutti

Three unpublished projects by three artist photographers – Diego Artioli, Ziyah Gafić and Ludwig Thalheimer – tell the story of the places and the people who have fled from these places, have arrived there or resist them.

Between a documentary style and an artistic approach, the series of exhibitions revolves around the relationship between the photographic language and the concept of “lost land” from which the title of the series derives.

The last artist in the series is Ludwig Thalheimer: The Cube is transformed into a light box in which images that play on the codes of advertising and tourism marketing reveal a new landscape. The shots are part of a documentation on the daily life of asylum seekers, in which Thalheimer shows a different Alto Adige, far from the stereotypes of the collective imagination.
