Museion Media Façade

Sit on the benches on September evenings and breathe, but also listen and see the air of Bolzano. The project by Silvia Hell (Bolzano, 1983) for the medial façade of Museion starts from this suggestion.

The data on some pollutants in the air of Bolzano, reported in colour, are projected on the facade and, at the same time, translated into music by the pianist Enrico Pompili. Transforming data and numbers, measured and collected in a very specific period of time, into sculptural forms or drawings is a constant in Silvia Hell’s work.

For the project at Museion, the data on pollutants, monitored in the air of Bolzano from 2008 to 2017, were translated into segments and colored geometric shapes, which flow in an animation on the facade. The sequence of colored shapes also becomes a score for the pianist Enrico Pompili, who will “translate” it into music. Scored Air is part of a larger project by the artist, which also includes the performance Wind Pressure Concert, in collaboration with Transart (held on 19/09 at Museion).
