Fifth satellite exhibition by guest curator Nicolò Degiorgis.

Degiorgis’ fifth and final artist’s book, part of the project, is exhibited in parallel with the main exhibition Hämatli & Patriae. The volume is on display at Passage and, from 26/09, at the Bolzano prison. Prison Photography is a compendium of black and white photographs taken from 2013 to 2017 by Bolzano prison inmates during the photography course held by Nicolò Degiorgis for the Alfa Beta Piccadilly cooperative.

The constraints naturally imposed on the photographic language by an isolating place like prison are the key point around which the entire course develops.  Divided into several chapters dedicated to different photographic motifs, the book takes on a dual role of reflection on photography itself and of an attempt to escape from the monotony of prison life. The volume comes in 16x24 format and is designed to function as a block: each page can be torn out to create personalized exhibitions. Prison Photography is published by Rorhof.
