Özurfa

Some archeologists consider Sanliurfa the cradle of civilization: Muslims and Jews venerate it as a holy city in which reputedly Abraham was born, and saved from the funeral pyre. Nowadays Saniurfa is still a site in which myths are continuously born, while the ancient ones, narrowly tied to its ethnic – religious multiplicity and history, are still forcefully present.

The ‘Özurfa’ exhibition is dedicated to the sceneries and people connected to these myths without wanting to verify facts or create casual connections. The exhibition is organized by the Ludwig Museum of Köln in collaboration with Museion.
