Museion Prize, the finalists have been selected

Verena Dengler (Vienna, 1981), Sonia Kacem (Basel, 1985), Invernomuto (Simone Bertuzzi, Piacenza, 1983 and Simone Trabucchi, Piacenza, 1982) and Julia Frank (Silandro, Bolzano, 1988) are the finalists in the first year of the Museion Prize.

The award aims to promote the work of young artists of any nationality working in Italy, the autonomous province of Bolzano in particular, Switzerland and Austria, whose artistic practice and research has had a significant impact on the contemporary scene. The prize is open to artsits under the age of 35, and aims to support young artists by offering an international platform and the opportunity to interface with leading museums. For this reason the selection process has involved the directors of the Italian museums belonging to AMACI, and those of eleven Swiss and nine Austrian institutions, who where invited to nominate one candidate each. Three institutions based in Sout Tyrol - Ar/ge Kunst Kunstverein in Bolzano, Merano Arte and Museion itself - have also jointly selected an artist who lives and workes in the local area.
An international jury, comprising Beatrix Ruf - Director of the Stedeljik Museum in Amsterdam, Giovanni Carmine - Director of Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen, Karola Kraus - Director of the Mumok Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig in Vienna, and Diana Baldon - Direktor of Malmö Konsthall, has examined the entries and selectedthe following finalists: Verena Dengler, Sonia Kacem and Invernomuto, along with Julia Frank, nominated by the local institutions.
The finalists will present their works in an exhibition  in Museion which opens on 25th November. In January 2017 the same jury will pick the winners from the futured works. The winning work will join the Museion C0llection and receive a prize of €10.000 , while the second place winner will receive €5.000.
