He’s curating for Museion the show Maria Lassnig Martin Kippenberger. Body Check

Veit Loers is to be Museion’s guest curator for 2018. Writer, curator and art historian, Loers (1942, Germany, lives and works in Italy) has been director of the Fridericianum in Kassel (1987-1995), the Abteiberg Museum in Mönchengladbach (1995-2003) and curator of the Federal Republic of Germany for the contemporary art collection. From 2010 to 2012 he directed the Kunstraum Innsbruck. A genuine authority on modern and contemporary art, Loers has curated solo exhibitions of artists of the calibre of Pierre Soulages, Joseph Beuys, Isa Genzken, Martin Kippenberger, Franz West, Günther Förg, Jeff Koons, Kai Althoff, Klara Lidén, Danh Vo and many more.

For Museion he is curating the show Maria Lassnig Martin Kippenberger. Body Check, which brings together the works of two illustrious names in the world of art - Martin Kippenberger (1953-97) and Maria Lassnig (1919-2014) – exploring the fragmentation and deconstruction of the body. Body Check, which opens on 2nd February 2018, coincides with the tenth anniversary of the Museion building in  piazza Piero Siena.

Loers is Museion’s sixth guest curator: each year the museum invites an external curator to present a themed exhibition. Since 2012 the role has been occupied by Rein Wolfs, now director of the Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle in the Federal Republic of Germany; the independent curator Carol Yinghua Lu with the artist Liu Ding; Pierre Bal-Blanc, part of the curatorial team of documenta 14 and director of the Contemporary Art Center in Bretigny, Greater Paris, France (2003-2014); the artist Francesco Vezzoli and the artist and photographer Nicolò Degiorgis.
