Nicolò Degiorgis is the winner of the Professor-Hilde-Goldschmidt-Preis for 2017

The prize won by Nicolò Degiorgis, founded in 1997, is awarded for conceptual, multimedia and transmedia art; the jury is made up of Gert Ammann (President), Günther Dankl, Innsbruck, Martin Hochleitner, Salzburg, Edelbert Köb, Vienna, and Marion Piffer Damiani, Bressanone.

In his own words, what moves the artist is a concentrated and conscious use of images, not only with his own photographs, but occasionally also with found or public materials, for example from the Internet. In this way, themes relating to history, society, identity or representation are questioned. The focus is not on the single spectacular image, but on artistic research and its processing through targeted reproduction techniques, arrangements and folds.

The prize will be officially awarded on January 13, 2018 at 11 am at the Museum Kitzbühel (AT); with a speech of praise by Marion Piffer Damiani.

The Hämatli & Patriae exhibition curated by Nicolò Degiorgis at Museion will be visible until Sunday 14/01.
