Artist Talk
Thursday 23.04.2020, 5pm on the Zoom platform

Exhibitions at home: curatorial insights, audio and video works bring the “Intermedia. New Scripture Archive” and “Bestiario de Lengűitas” in the homes of all of us.

This week we offer you a special appointment: a moment of live meeting in which the artist Mercedes Azpilicueta talks about her work in dialogue with the curator Simone Frangi.

The live conversation on Thursday 24 April starts from the rich heritage of legends and myths of South Tyrolean culture, in particular the Ladin one, and seeks to expand on a contemporary level some motifs linked to resistance and dissidence. Through dialogue, the curator Simone Frangi and the artist Mercedes Azipilicueta evoke the political figure of the witch as an emblematic character of the contemporary Bestiary and as a topos of the militant imagination.

The ranging across areas of knowledge - from art history to popular music, from literature to street culture, the predilection for figures considered dissident such as feminists, queers, migrants and exiled individuals - are central elements of Mercedes Azpilicueta’s work.

Below are also the reference materials evoked during the conversation.
