Sunday 17 May 2020: Museion also participates with an online program

Museion is also participating with a program of online offers in ICOM Day, the International Museum Day. “Museums for equality: diversity and inclusion” is the theme of this 2020 edition, which invites us to think about the social role of museums. The activities proposed for this day are therefore all driven by the common thought of how to promote inclusion, overcome stereotypes and develop multiple and democratic thoughts and narratives.

Museion offers two podcasts for the little ones, in Italian and German, which tell stories from over ten illustrated books. The common thread that links these narratives is diversity and inclusion. To listen to the stories, simply connect to the Museion podcast.

The rainbow and its colors are instead at the center of a remote mediation activity for the whole family. An illustrated kit will invite you, through a special treasure hunt, to go out and create your own work of art inspired by “Land Art” and object trouvè (found objects). The public is invited to then share the work on social media by tagging Museion. Instructions for this remote workshop can be found by clicking here.

Finally, for a more adult audience, the entire video work The Coming (2018) by the artist Keren Cytter, belonging to the Museion collection, will be offered. The work is a manifesto of the “non norm”. The protagonist is in fact a bleating hamster and due to his diversity he suddenly becomes interesting.

A further video contribution will instead concern art therapy and will feature guests Ulrike Hofmann and Patrizia Trafoier, two art therapists from Bolzano, with whom a collaboration was undertaken for the original ICOM DAY programme: a round table on the themes of art therapy and on the techniques and methods of museum accessibility. This video contribution is also visible on their YouTube channel.
