The new cycle of exhibitions is inspired by the “Museo Museion” exhibition by curator Francesco Vezzoli and offers works from the collection that reinterpret traditional artistic genres, subjects and techniques that have characterized the history of art.

The Suitcases installation by Luigi Fosca features seven wooden elements covered in leather that represent suitcases, each with the shape of a specific object. Each suitcase is a precise reference to an intellectual and to one of his “key” literary works in Western literature. Reported in engraved characters and in the original language, one can thus read the incipit for example of Ulysses by J. Joyce, L’éperon malicieux, le double-cheval by A. Artaud, Ragazzi di vita by P. P. Pasolini, Cent’anni di solitude by G. Garcia Marquez, Don Chiquotte by M. De Cervantes, Capital by K. Marx and F. Engels.

In short, real “cultural baggage” that everyone carries with them until death. In fact, the installation refers to this last journey. Each suitcase is the metaphor of a path, an escape or a handbook for one’s journey through the world. Luigi Fosca’s installation is part of a tradition that has already seen several artists reflect on their practice, trying to close it in a suitcase - remember for example the famous Boîte-en-valise by Marcel Duchamp or La valise belge by Marcel Broodthaers.

Luigi Fosca was born in Avezzano (AQ) in 1954. He studied scenography in Rome at the Academy of Fine Arts. He lives and works in Perugia.
