The artist Ingrid Hora, with her video “Die Wende”, transformed the Museion façade into a huge swimming pool, where a group of ladies from East Germany are doing a synchronised swimming routine.

“Die Wende” means “the turn” and refers to the movement performed under water, in which the athlete completes a full turn of the body.

The word in German also, however, refers to the process of change or “turn” that came about after the fall of the Berlin Wall, leading to democracy and a capitalist economic system. The protagonists of the film are, in fact, elderly ladies from the eastern part of Berlin.
