A question of language

Written language is at the center of the nucleus of works “Language in Art”. The hybrid forms between art and writing, image and text, drawn line and writing are a representative manifestation of modern and contemporary art. This core includes conceptual works, but also forms of political art or works that work with the principles of advertising. An important role is played by the works of visual and concrete poetry and the Fluxus movement. These became part of the Museion collection through the long-term loan of Paolo Della Grazia’s “Archive of New Writing”. Part of these works are presented in the “Intermedia” exhibition.

Light: what is more evocative and impalpable to create a work of art?

The core of light works, mostly installations that use light as “matter”, represents an important aspect in the Museion Collection. In fact, in 1996 the important exhibition dedicated to the N Group and the Zero Group (ENNE&ZERO motus etc.) was held. The luminous works that later became part of the collection have from time to time highlighted the “hybrid” character present from the beginning in the works of artists such as Uecker, Piene, Mack and Biasi, to name just a few representatives of the two artistic groups.
