From July 8 to 26, 2024, Museion hosted students from the prestigious School of Higher Education of the Matera and Rome, which is part of the Central Institute for Restoration (ICR) of the Ministry of Culture. The objective of these weeks, in addition to an in-depth educational study, was a confrontation in the field with restoration, control and research activities on works from Museion’s collection.

During the teaching sites, students assisted the team in charge of Museion’s collections and archives in maintenance activities, minor conservation restorations, exhibition disassembly, and conservation filing of works, guided by their teachers.

This year has seen their active participation in the disassembly of Antonio Rovaldi’s exhibition Torno indietro un attimo, whose works were recently acquired within the museum collection, by scheduling the works, drawing up condition reports and organizing from a conservation point of view the packing operations aimed at transportation.

Among the main works being maintained are those by Elisabeth Hölzl, as well as conservation work on works by Luca Patella, Ugo Carrega, Pedro Fiori and other artists part of the Archivio di Nuova Scrittura.

Also of great importance for the students’ education were visits to local artistic realities and direct meetings with artists. This is the case of Renata Boero, artist whose two works from Museion’s collection are currently the subject of a thesis project at the School of Higher Education in Matera.
